Ribbon cut on new Southampton Elementary School playground

To the great excitement of Southampton Elementary School students, a ribbon was officially cut on a new playground at their school during a ceremony on Sept. 20.

Students were thrilled to step foot on the new playground that features bridges, climbing walls, monkey bars, multiple slides and musical instruments, including drums, chimes and xylophones. The playground also includes a new, safe surface.

The $342,000 playground project was approved by voters in May 2024 through a capital reserve fund vote. It replaces a 20-year-old play structure.
