Dear Southampton Schools Community, 

I would like to officially welcome back students, families, faculty and staff, administrators, executive leadership, esteemed Board members, and community partners. I hope you all had quality time and a restful and enjoyable summer with your families. I am looking forward to receiving all of our students in the schools, tomorrow, September 4, 2024.  

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that we officially launch the 2024-2025 school year.  This has been a very busy summer in the schools as we prepare to receive everyone, and launch a productive and outstanding new school year. I look forward to a year of collective engagement where we center the aspirations, goals, opportunities, safety, needs and achievements of all scholars in the Southampton Schools as priority number one. 

Teamwork makes the dream work! As we approach this year, we will work collaboratively as “One Southampton Anchored in Excellence,” as our students and families deserve nothing less than our concerted efforts to bring best-in-class educational practices and opportunities that ensure the academic and social-emotional success of every scholar in our charge. 

This summer, teachers and administrators have been steeped in professional learning opportunities that focus on community healing, restorative justice practices, dismantling implicit bias, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), educational equity, and other training that will be put into professional practice that supports academic achievement success for all students.  

We are “One Southampton,” and this year, we will focus on the strength that is derived from our multiflorous diversity. As though we come from many language, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, our common humanity will be the key lever which propels and anchors us in educational excellence during this school year and beyond. This excellence will be realized in our classroom instruction, our extracurricular activities, athletics, the visual and performing arts, our technological advances, including the effective use of AI and other technological platforms that will be accessible to all scholars.  

I look forward to seeing all students and families at our myriad events that elevate the excellence and innate talents inherent in all of our students. Please join me as we center educational promise and joy in their lives in each school, and each and every classroom and learning space, each and every day.  I look forward to working with all district stakeholders to ensure an outstanding and prosperous school year.
