SUBSTITUTE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR THE 2023 - 2024 SCHOOL YEAR

Substitute Teacher* (TRS Eligible) Valid NYS Teacher Certificate OR Working toward certification at the rate of no less than six semester hours per year 
  Days 1-50 worked in the 2023-2024 school year  $189 per day   
  Days 51 and beyond worked in the 2023-2024 school year  $204 per day  
  Retired Southampton certified Teacher (from 1st day) $204 per day  
       
Substitute Teaching Assistant* (TRS Eligible) Valid NYS TA Certificate, MA or BA
  Days 1-50 worked in the 2023-2024 school year  $148 per day   
  Days 51 and beyond worked in the 2023-2024 school year  $163 per day  
  Retired Southampton uncertified staff (from 1st day) $163 per day  
       
Substitute Teacher Aide* (ERS Eligible) High School Diploma $138 per day   
       
Substitute School Nurse
  Substitute Nurse (NYS RN) $255 per day   
  Permanent Substitute Nurse (NYS RN) $281 per day   
       
Permanent Teacher Substitute (October 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024) $204 per day   
       
Permanent TA Substitute (October 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024) $163 per day   
       
Leave Replacement:    
Short-Term: 5 to 29 continuous work days @ higher per diem rate from start    
Long Term:  30 or more continuous work days to be placed on contract @ maximum Scale 4/Step 3 – medical/dental benefits payable for service of one semester or five months
Notes:      
Short-term replacement assignments are approved by Administrators (Building Principals to confer with District Office Administrators) using BOE-approved substitute list.  All long-term leave replacement assignments must be approved by the Board of Education  
If short-term leave assignment progresses to long-term leave assignment, contract salary begins on 30th day with no retroactive adjustment  
       
Substitute Clerical
  Days 1-29 worked in the 2023-2024 school year $21 per hour  
  Days 30 and beyond worked in the 2023-2024 school year  $23 per hour  
  Retired Southampton clerical staff $36 per hour   
       
Other Substitute Rates 
  Casual Food Service Worker  $17.50 per hour  
  Casual Lunch Aide $24.50 per hour  
  Casual Bus Driver $28.55 per hour   
  Casual Driver Assistant  $27.29 per hour   
  Casual Security Guard $23.38 per hour   
  Casual Custodial Worker $25.00 per hour
