Dear Southampton families,

On behalf of the Southampton Board of Education, I extend a heartfelt welcome to the 2026-2027 school year to our families and district community. I hope you had a restful, rejuvenating, and joyful summer where you were able to spend quality time with family and friends. I look forward to the new school year with excitement and enthusiasm as we continue to prepare to receive our wonderful students on September 8, 2026 in our schools. 

By now all families should have received a number of school readiness items from your individual schools. This includes school supply lists and other helpful information and requirements for participating fully in school. Please check your parent square notifications to ensure you have not missed these essential communications. You may also  find the supply lists and other essential information regarding registration, immunizations, transportation, 2026-2027 Calendar and health and  wellness supports  at the following link here:  Opening of School Resources 2026-2027 .

This summer we have had a number of capital projects take place that upgrade our facilities, create healthy learning environments and maintain the preservation and upkeep of our beautiful edifices. This includes new air conditioning units at the high school, structural updates to fortify our historical District Office, and the new kitchen renovation at the Elementary School. We thank our Facilities Department for their oversight of such large-scale construction projects and the steadfast work they have done to successfully prepare our schools for opening and receiving our scholars and staff. 

As we move forward into the academic year, we will have many conversations and public meetings regarding our upcoming 2026-2027 Capital Projects Bond Vote. We look forward to community input, support and collaboration as we make the optimal decisions for best-in-class upgrades to our buildings, instructional spaces and classrooms. These community supported bond projects have the potential to positively impact student learning for the foreseeable future.

This year we have chosen the theme of “Students Steering Success”. As we work to provide the best learning environments and outcomes for our students, we know that their voices, critical thinking, ideas, and access to opportunities is a best practice for preparing them to meet the challenges of post-secondary opportunities and the demands of the 21st century workforce. This year we look forward to students being leaders of their own learning where they lead every educational endeavor we offer including in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the community in service to others. Our Scholars have a lot to offer and we can learn from them as well. Let’s dedicate ourselves to elevating student voice in real and practical ways that hone and sharpen their innate leadership abilities. Let’s let students navigate us all towards success. 

I look forward to working closely with families as you join our Parent-Teacher organizations, participate in extracurricular events, work collaboratively with your teachers, and ensure your child is reading and studying every night.
