Responsibilities:
● Manage a 5000-gallon marine wet lab in a high school housing over 50 species of marine vertebrates, invertebrates, and plants
● Maintain optimal husbandry practices for all organisms in the wet lab
○ Appropriate feeding practices
○ Maintain proper water chemistry on all systems
○ Diagnose and treat marine diseases on fish and invertebrates
● Culture phytoplankton and zooplankton
● Maintain all life support equipment including reactors, pumps, chillers, and protein skimmers
● Upgrading and modifying existing systems to meet the needs and interests of the students
● Aquaculture marine ornamental fish, shellfish, jellyfish, and corals
● Possess knowledge of husbandry practices for cephalopods
● Assist classroom teachers with hands-on learning exercises and labs
○ Introduce students to life support and animal care
● Assist research students with developing and conducting independent research projects with organisms in the lab
● Manage the wet lab budget
○ Ordering, receiving, and keeping organized records
