Position Overview

The Southampton Union Free School District is seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School Industrial Arts Teacher (Grades 7).  The ideal candidate will have experience teaching middle school students and will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lessons in woodworking, basic engineering, basic electronics, and other STEM-related topics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement an engaging and comprehensive Industrial Arts Curriculum

• Encourage hands-on learning through project-based assignments.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, ensuring an inclusive classroom environment.

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and integrate new tools and methodologies into the curriculum.

• Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.

• Assess and monitor student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.

• Maintain an organized and safe learning environment, ensuring that technology and equipment are properly maintained.

• Participate in school events, professional development, and extracurricular activities such as robotics clubs and coding competitions.

Job Qualifications

• NYS Teaching certification required - Industrial Arts  

• Prior experience or knowledge of 

  • Woodworking

  • Basic electronics

  • Design and drafting

  • Simple machine operation

  • Safety practices

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Arts Education or related field

- Valid teaching license with Industrial Arts endorsement

- At least 2 years of experience teaching Industrial Arts at the middle school level

- Strong knowledge of safety practices and procedures

- Excellent communication and classroom management skills

- Passion for hands-on learning and student engagement
