Southampton students create green cities

As part of a multidisciplinary project, fifth and sixth grade Southampton Intermediate School Summer Academy students worked collaboratively to research renewable energy and build and present “green cities” that showcased what they had learned. Their cities included electric cars, rooftop gardens, and wind, hydro and solar power, as well as green spaces, from walkways to bike paths. Their project was inspired by a reading of “Green City” by Allan Drummond, which discusses a town that was hit by a tornado and rebuilt using sustainable energy.
